LANCASTER, PA, August 13, 2008 – James W. Saxton,
Esq., Chair of Stevens & Lee’s Health Care Litigation Group and
Co-Chair of the Health Care Department, has been named to the
Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) Board of Directors.
The SRC is an independent, not-for-profit corporation that
administers the Bariatric Surgery Centers of Excellence (BSCOE)
program on behalf of the American Society for Metabolic and
Bariatric Surgery. The SRC’s mission is to promote the delivery of
health care with the highest levels of efficacy, efficiency and
safety through BSCOE, which has attracted over 800 hospital and
1,300 surgeon applicants.
Mr. Saxton will serve a three-year term. He also has been named to
the SRC’s Executive Committee.
Mr. Saxton lectures frequently and is invited by nationally
prominent health care organizations across the country to speak on
health care issues, liability reduction and risk management.
He is an active trial lawyer – a practice he has sustained for more
than 25 years – representing health care providers in state and
federal court and administrative proceedings. He advises hospitals,
medical groups and retirement communities throughout the U.S. in
connection with understanding and reducing their professional
liability risk.
Mr. Saxton develops risk reduction strategies for health care
providers and organizations nationwide and creates innovative
strategies and educational programs to support them. He has
published more than 200 articles, several handbooks and seven
textbooks including most recently, Sorry Works! Disclosure,
Apology and Relationships Prevent Medical Malpractice Claims, an
authoritative manual on disclosure and apology.
