[]  Joseph J. Connolly Joins Stevens & Lee


PHILADELPHIA, PA, June 30, 2009   –  Stevens & Lee announced today that Joseph J. Connolly has joined the firm’s Corporate, Finance and Capital Markets Department in Philadelphia.

“We are pleased to have Joe come on board with us,” said Ernie Choquette, President of Stevens & Lee. “Joe is an accomplished and highly effective corporate lawyer and brings significant expertise to our practice.”

Mr. Connolly focuses his practice on advising both U.S. and foreign corporations on acquisition and divestiture transactions.

Previously, Mr. Connolly served as Assistant Solicitor General of the United States, where he argued a number of cases in the United States Supreme Court. During the Watergate affair, he served as Assistant Special Prosecutor on the Watergate Special Prosecution Force.

Prior to his service in the Solicitor General’s Office, Mr. Connolly was Assistant to the U.S. Secretary of Defense and Staff Counsel to the President’s Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Justice.
He is the principal editor of the Manual on Acquisition Review published by the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association. He has been an adjunct professor of law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and the Georgetown Law Center and has taught in numerous professional education programs. Mr. Connolly has also served as a member of the Mayor’s Advisory Council on the Arts in Philadelphia.

Mr. Connolly received an LL.B, magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law and an A.B., cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania.
