READING, PA, January 11, 2010 – Stevens & Lee
announced today that Linda R. Evers has joined the firm’s Energy,
Regulatory and Public Utility practice as a Shareholder. She will
reside in the Firm’s Reading office.
With over 16 years
of experience as in-house counsel at major electric utilities, Ms.
Evers brings significant and practical experience to bear in
assisting clients to achieve favorable results that are
cost-effective and make a positive impact on their financial
conditions.

Prior to joining
Stevens & Lee, Ms. Evers served as long-time counsel for FirstEnergy
Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corporation, the fifth
largest investor-owned utility company in the nation.
As FirstEnergy’s
Pennsylvania regulatory lawyer, Ms. Evers served as lead attorney on
regulatory matters concerning Metropolitan Edison (Met-Ed),
Pennsylvania Electric Company (Penelec) and Pennsylvania Power
Company, one of the first electric distribution companies to comply
with the Commonwealth’s Alternative Energy Standards.
Ms. Evers was an
active participant in the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission’s
Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards rulemaking process and
spearheaded Met-Ed and Penelec’s Competitive Transition Charge
Compliance filing that resulted in a significant increase in
earnings.
In addition, Ms.
Evers recently filed and obtained the Pennsylvania Public Utility
Commission’s approval of Met-Ed and Penelec’s Default Service
Programs through a settlement with multiple intervenors. These
programs determine how Met-Ed and Penelec will supply power to their
customers in 2011 when rate caps expire.
While in-house, Ms.
Evers was an active member of the Electric Regulatory Committee of
the Energy Association of Pennsylvania and Corporate Counsel Women
of Color®, an organization of women attorneys of color who serve as
in-house legal counsel for corporations in the U.S. and around the
world.
She is a member of
the Minority Bar Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and
the Berks County Bar Association, where she is a “Lawyers in the
Classroom” volunteer. She also serves on the Board of Directors of
Glad Services and coordinates its pro bono program, and volunteered
in “Get Help Now,” a state-sponsored program that paired
lawyers and financial professionals to provide advice to those affected
by the economic downturn.
She holds a J.D.
from the University of Illinois College of Law and a B.S. from
Northwestern University.
